Show that you care.
Wear PINK Hair.
The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) program is dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of the early detection of breast cancer through a national wide campaign.
We would like to encourage you to participate. There are many ways you can do this. One way is to Wear PINK Hair. Why?
It's an easy way to show to others that you support the awareness program. The pink hair may encourage dialog. Friends, family and even strangers may ask you about the PINK hair.
The opportunity is presented to you to say: "I support Breast Cancer Awareness."
Awareness ... the Most Important Action
Then ... if the person would like more information ... you can recommend the Breast Cancer Awareness Website. The easiest way to get there is to search or Google for NBCAM or call 1.800.227.2345.
Also, if you can, become aware of resources in your own area. Such as where to go for screening tests, follow-up services and where to get printed information from your local associates and sources.

If you have a personal story, you may want to share it. If you want to make a donation to help research, do it!
Helping to bring awareness to the many issues involved with Breast Cancer ... you can make a difference! It can be big, bold actions (running a race, making a financial donation, etc.) or subtle action, as simple as wearing PINK hair. No matter how big or small ... you can help other people.

Probably - Like You ... I Have A Personal Story

I'm Charlotte Jayne (one of the founders/owners of Garland Drake).

My Grandmother, Charlotte, died in the 1920s from Breast Cancer. My Mother and Aunt Freda were Breast Cancer survivors. May 2007 my sister Lida died from Breast Cancer. June 2007 I discovered a lump in my right breast. July 3, 2007 I had a double mastectomy. I learned that I also had cancer in my left breast, not seen on the mammogram. I am currently cancer free.
I believe early detection and decisive action are important. I also believe that if you have a family history, it is a good idea to get tested for the gene. You may even think about or decide on surgery as a preventive approach. There are a lot of things to learn and think about.

I hope our PINK Hair campaign may help bring awareness. With awareness there can be action. It will be your words, your encouragement, your action that may save someone's life.
